Counseling Practice Policies
At Indigo Path Collective, we are committed to providing high-quality, trauma-informed counseling while creating clear expectations for everyone we serve. The policies below summarize how our practice operates and help support a positive therapeutic experience. Additional information, including informed consent and state-specific requirements, is reviewed before treatment begins.
Appointments
Psychotherapy sessions are generally scheduled for approximately 50 minutes unless otherwise arranged with your counselor.
Please arrive on time for your appointment. If you arrive late, your session will typically end at the scheduled time so that other clients are not affected.
Consistent attendance supports meaningful progress in therapy. If your scheduling needs change, please discuss them with your counselor.
Cancellations and Missed Appointments
If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, we ask that you provide at least 24 hours' notice whenever possible.
Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours' notice or missed without notice may be subject to the full session fee.
Your appointment time is reserved specifically for you, and late cancellations often prevent another client from receiving care.
Payment and Insurance
Payment is expected at the time services are provided unless other arrangements have been made.
Depending on your clinician and location, payment options may include:
Insurance
Self-pay
Out-of-network reimbursement
Health Savings Accounts (HSA)
Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), when applicable
If a payment is returned by your financial institution, a returned payment fee may apply.
Please review your clinician's payment and insurance information for current details regarding accepted insurance plans, reimbursement options, and self-pay fees.
Good Faith Estimate
Under the No Surprises Act, clients who do not have insurance or who choose not to use their insurance benefits may have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining the expected cost of counseling services.
If you are paying for services yourself, we are happy to provide a Good Faith Estimate before treatment begins. Additional information about your rights under the No Surprises Act is available upon request or through the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
Telehealth Services
Indigo Path Collective primarily provides counseling through secure telehealth technology.
To support the effectiveness and privacy of your appointment, we ask that you:
Participate from a private location whenever possible.
Use a secure internet connection.
Minimize interruptions during your appointment.
Be physically located in a state where your counselor is licensed to provide services at the time of your appointment.
Telehealth offers convenient access to care while maintaining the same professional, ethical, and clinical standards expected during in-person counseling.
As with any technology, interruptions or technical difficulties may occasionally occur. If this happens, your counselor will make reasonable efforts to reconnect and determine the most appropriate next steps.
Certain aspects of telehealth services may also be subject to applicable federal and state laws governing the practice of telehealth in the jurisdictions where services are provided.
Electronic Communication
Email, text messaging, voicemail, and website contact forms are intended primarily for scheduling, billing, and other administrative matters.
Although reasonable safeguards are used, electronic communication cannot be guaranteed to be completely secure. We ask that clients avoid sending sensitive clinical information through these methods whenever possible.
Clinical concerns are best addressed during scheduled counseling appointments.
Electronic communication should never be used during an emergency or crisis.
Telephone Availability
Your counselor may not be immediately available by telephone while providing services to other clients.
Voicemail messages are typically returned within one business day whenever possible.
Telephone conversations may occasionally be appropriate for administrative matters or brief clinical support; however, ongoing therapy is generally provided during scheduled counseling sessions.
Social Media
Protecting your privacy is an important part of ethical counseling practice.
To maintain appropriate professional boundaries and safeguard client confidentiality, Indigo Path Collective clinicians do not accept friend requests or social networking connections with current or former clients through personal or professional social media platforms.
If you have questions about this policy, we encourage you to discuss them during your appointment.
Confidentiality
Your privacy is one of the foundations of the counseling relationship.
Information shared during counseling is confidential except where disclosure is required or permitted by law. Examples may include situations involving imminent risk of harm to yourself or others, suspected abuse or neglect, court orders, or other legal requirements.
Your counselor will review the limits of confidentiality in greater detail during the informed consent process before treatment begins.
Minors
When counseling services involve a minor, parents or legal guardians may have certain legal rights regarding treatment information.
Your counselor will discuss confidentiality, parental involvement, informed consent, and applicable state laws at the beginning of treatment so that expectations are clear for everyone involved.
Ending Counseling Services
Either you or your counselor may determine that counseling has reached an appropriate conclusion.
Whenever possible, treatment will end through a planned termination process that provides an opportunity to review progress, discuss ongoing needs, and identify appropriate next steps.
If another provider or level of care would better meet your needs, your counselor will make reasonable efforts to assist with appropriate referrals.
If you discontinue services without scheduling future appointments and no other arrangements have been made, the therapeutic relationship may be considered inactive after an extended period of time.
Emergencies
Indigo Path Collective is not an emergency or crisis response service.
If you are experiencing a medical or mental health emergency:
Call 911 immediately.
Go to your nearest emergency department.
Call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
If you are outside the United States, contact your local emergency services.
Please do not rely on voicemail, email, text messages, or website contact forms during an emergency.
